We at the Reasons2Read blog want to wish you very happy and safe holidays. In order to help combat the stress these days often bring up, we’ve come up with two stories, one audio and one written, to help you laugh and remember the spirit of the holidays.
This audio clip from NPR commentator and mystery author Bailey White tells her childhood story of jumping the neighbor’s fence to get the perfect hemlock bough.
The second piece is a beautifully written essay by Harper Lee, My Christmas in New York. Originally published in McCall’s in 1961, it tells of Lee’s Christmas gift that changed her life and brought into the world To Kill A Mockingbird.
We’ll be back in the new year, having spent our holidays catching up on our reading. We’ll be sure to tell you about the winners. And check back in early January for a surprise we’ve got in store.
We’d love to hear what you’re looking forward to reading during the holidays. Feel free to tell us all about it in the comment section below.
