Blog Post #6 – Thank You.

Life is full of experiences. Every day of your life is an experience, because today you are different than yesterday in some way and tomorrow you will be different than today in another way. You will never be the same person you are today. Think about it. You will never be who you are now, in this moment, as you are reading this. Right. Now. Every second, minute, hour, day, week, month, year, will change you from this point on. Everything that happens in your life changes you. It changed you yesterday, it will change you today, and it will change you tomorrow. Every word you say, every person you meet, every opportunity you take. I know this first hand, because the opportunity I took this summer has most definitely changed my life. I can genuinely say that doing my co-operative education placement here at CPL has been the best experience of my high school career. The people I have met, the connections I have made, the things I have seen has made it the most incredible journey. There are no words to sum up the past month because I couldn’t have pictured a better place to spend half of my summer.

I have enjoyed every single thing I have done. From programming phones to writing on the blog, and everything in between. There were no negatives to this opportunity. The people are the most welcoming, kind people I know. They make you feel as if you are a part of the community that is built here at the Caledon Public Library. Before this opportunity, I never really thought about the library as a place that a community could be formed so strongly. The people of this organization, are not just people who show up to work to work. These people show up to work to not only work, but form a community through their work, and they make sure that each person who walks through the door is part of this community as well. The books may act as a reason for people to come in the first place, but the community and unity throughout each and every branch is what has people coming back each and every time after that first.

I cannot even begin to thank each and every person who has helped me along this wonderful month journey of learning, growing and developing, but I can say that I will miss each and every one of them dearly. Specifically I must thank Mary Maw and Laurie Groe. These two ladies have shaped my co-op experience as a whole. They gave me opportunities, they gave me inspiration, and they gave me motivation. Each and every day they walked in with optimism and faith in what I would do. They made sure that every day I had a good day and I was content with what I was doing, but honestly just helping everyone out every day made me more than happy. They are filled with kindness and friendliness, and I could not have asked for better people to lead my placement. Lastly, I would like to thank Sabrina. Since the first day I have come in, she has been by my side guiding me, leading me, and showing me the ropes of CPL. She looked at me as equal, and gave me just as much responsibility as she would have given any person who worked at this beautiful place. She thoroughly influenced my journey here at the Caledon Public Library and I cannot thank her enough for that. All of the people here at this wonderful place have shown me what a true team looks like, what a true work family looks like, and what true individuals look like. This past month has shown me what true community is, and that is the Caledon Public Library.
