Tis the Season….To Read!

There may not be snow on the ground yet, but it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas (in the stores at least)! One of my favourite things to do leading up to the holidays is to surround myself with as many holiday movies, cookies, and of course, books as possible. This year is no different! Even though December has just begun, I’ve already started two holiday books and watched just as many movies. There is just something about curling up with a cozy blanket, some hot cocoa, and a good book that really gets me into the holiday spirit! Luckily, Caledon Public Library has a wide assortment of holiday books to spread the Christmas cheer! So don’t be a cotton headed ninny muggins! Read this Christmas season!

what-light

What Light by Jay Asher
This new book from the bestselling author of 13 Reasons Why, focuses on Sierra, whose family runs a Christmas tree farm in Oregon. Every year during the holidays, her family packs up and moves to California to set up their tree lot for the season. The only rule her father sets is that she is never allowed to date any of the seasonal workers. Sierra has never minded her father’s strict dating rules, until this season, when she meets the handsome and sweet Caleb. The result is a feel good holiday read with plenty of romance!

true-love

My True Love Gave to Me edited by Stephanie Perkins
This anthology of short stories by some of the biggest names in the YA industry (including Gayle Forman, Rainbow Rowell, and David Levithan) is perfect for someone who wants a quick but sweet dose of holiday spirit! I loved the story “It’s A Yuletide Miracle Charlie Brown” so much that I re-read it twice last year! Whether your celebrating Christmas or Hannukah, Winter Solstice or New Years, there is something for everyone! The best part is, if you aren’t enjoying a particular story, you can just skip it and start the next one (although trust me, you won’t want to)!

dash
Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan

For those who enjoy this book, you’ll be happy to hear that the authors have just released a sequel this year called The Twelve Days of Dash and Lily! So curl up by the fireplace and get cozy, because you won’t want to put this book down!
