The Caledon Public Library is running its second annual Patron Picks contest for the month of January at all seven branches. Patrons can nominate their favourite adult book from 2016 and enter a ballot into a draw. Did you enjoy “The Underground Railroad“ by Colson Whitehead? What about “The Nest“ by Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney? Maybe “Great Reckoning” by Louise Penny or “The Couple next door” by Shari Lapena or perhaps my personal favourite, “Homegoing” by Yaa Gyasi? Let us know by filling out a nomination ballot at any of our branches. Or you can vote online by clicking this link. The choices are endless and the number of fantastic books published in 2016 make it so hard to pick just one. Have a look at some other “Best of 2016” lists and see if your favourite is on them:
At the end of January, we will compile our own “Patron Picks” best books list, based on your submissions, and post it on our website. Then you can see what your friends, neighbours and colleagues enjoyed reading last year and maybe discover your own new favourite. Don’t forget to look at last year’s selections as well on the CPL website.
Ann Walmsley will be visiting the Albion-Bolton branch on Thursday March 9 at 7:00 pm. This is a FREE program so make sure to register soon to secure your spot to hear Ann’s amazing stories of running a book club in a maximum security prison for men.
CPL will also be hosting Amy Stuart at the Albion-Bolton branch on Tuesday May 23 at 7:00 pm. Register soon to find out how Amy’s debut psychological thriller became an instant Canadian bestseller.
So hurry in to one of our seven branches and let us know what book(s) you enjoyed the most. Or maybe ask one of our knowledgeable staff for their recommendations!
